So weve had some new developments the last couple weeks! We finally found out when Collin is leaving for his training....November! We were thinking it would only be a month but one of the sergeants called me last week and told me that he wouldnt be leaving until mid november! I guess that was the fastest they could squeeze him into a new unit. So yeah, its kind of a bummer since that means he wont be coming home until the next year but here are the upsides: 1) more time together before he leaves 2) his buddy Richard will also be leaving a month after him so I can hang out with his wife Katie and we can both have somewhat of a support system 3) as soon as he comes back, its time for us to go on our trip to Ukraine and Europe that we have been planning for quite some time! oh yeah... and we will be completely debt free! Absolutly everything! So there are some good upsides to this too.
This weekend Collin didnt go to his drill because of his broken ankle but sure enough at 6am saturday morning we had the National Guard tracking Collin down, our phones were ringing like crazy! He told them that he had a doctors note that he faxed to the sergeant incharge advising that he not go to drill and damage his ankle even more but the officers said that he needs to have the NG medic look at it. So we got in the car and had to drive all the way down to Blackfoot (a good hour drive) so this dumb medic could look at it. Oh by the way the last time Collin was at drill (he had already broken his ankle we just didnt know it yet) and the medic looked at it and said "oh it looks fine, just tough it out" yeah well we went to go see a real doctor, took some xrays, and found out that he had broken a good portion of it, so this one medic has no idea what hes talking about. So we get there, the medic rememberd Collin from last month thinking that he should be gone for training already, asked him what he was still doing here. We just rolled our eyes but of course, we had a good time telling him that he had made a misdiagnosis last time he was here. We were there for maybe five minutes and they told him he could go home. So yeah it was a crazy saturday morning BUT Collin still gets paid for drill even though he didnt have to go and backpay from the Guard not promoting him because of his ankle. So we got paid to spend the weekend together and go to breakfast on the way home! All and all, it pays to be in the Guard and ended up being a good day!
