This post may be a little boring to some since I'm really only blogging about this for documentation purposes but WOW, when I found these pictures a flood of memories came back. These were taken nearly 5 years ago on my 21st birthday (it'll be my 26th, gasp, birthday this March). I really consider these pictures a turning point in my life and it was so nice to look through some of them again!
I had just moved back home from Arizona after living there for exactly a year. Ugh, it was horrible and by far the worst year of my life, no exaggeration. Shortly after, I drove down to Las Vegas with some very close friends to run my first real race (a 5k) which was amazing! I really made a decision to make the most out of my life and come out a new person. It was exhilarating to accomplish something I've never done before and to push those boundaries a bit; aka that jump I'm making above!
I love the place where I'm at right now... where we are at in our lives and the goals were are setting and achieving together and as individuals. I look back and think of the things I have accomplished and how much I have grown in my life since that time. I am so thankful for my family and the friends in my life who stuck by during such a hard time and of course the gospel of Jesus Christ. I know that the hardest of trials and challenges in our lives can be eased and we can be comforted by the knowledge that Jesus Christ experienced those same feelings of despair that we experience in life at times.
On a lighter note; I am returning to the same event in Las Vegas only instead of doing the 5k, I'm registered for which will be my second half marathon on my birthday again this year! What a fun way to celebrate hu?! Oh and my dad will also be there running it with me! Unfortunately I don't look the same as I did five years ago BUT I have made a goal to get back to that previous weight this summer!
