I first moved to Idaho the Fall of 2004 after graduating high school. I have grown to love it up here. Its so different than where I grew up in Southern California which is very city.... lots of highways, traffic, buildings, etc. Don't get me wrong, CA is very beautiful too. Tons a green rolling hills and of course the beach and all the way up Pacific Coast Hwy is incredible.
Monday through Friday I commute 15 minutes into the next town for work. I have the most beautiful drive. I first pass huge stretches of farmland where the farmers let the horses roam and then pass by the cows in the fields. I pass by two small lakes and a small attraction called Bear World which has tons of bears, elk, sheep, moose, and bison. Most of the time when I pass by the Bear World the employees are feeding the elk and deer so I see them and their babies hoping around! Then I cross the bridge over the Snake River which I have now kayaked down four times, more farmland after that before I take my exit. No traffic (EVER) no buildings and no pollution. California will always have a special place in my heart but I definitely prefer the slower paced country life up here.
Here are some awesome places I get to enjoy living up here:
My morning ride to work
Hiking in Teton (1 1/2 hr away)
Mesa Falls (30 min away) Great place to go to after church on Sundays
Teton River
Camping inside the Teton Dam (20 min away)
Camping in Moody (45 minutes away)
Green canyon in the winter
I could post a hundred more pictures of the beautiful places we've been to here in Idaho... most of which are very close to us. I know if we end up in Idaho I won't be disappointed.
