3 c. flour
2 1/2 c.sugar
1 teas. salt
1 1/2 teas. baking powder
1 1/2 c. milk
1 1/2 c. vegetable oil
3 eggs
1 1/2 teas. vanilla
1 1/2 teas. almond extract
1 1/2 teas. poppy seeds
3/4 c. powder sugar
1/4 c. orange juice
1/2 teas. vanilla
1/2 teas. almond extract
Preheat to 350. Whisk together flour, sugar, salt and baking powder. Add milk, veg oil, eggs, extracts, and poppy seeds and beat 1 minute. Pour batter in loaf pans. Bake 50-60 minutes. While baking whisk together glaze. When the bread is done, brush on the glaze while the bread is still hot and then allow to cool. Wahla!
Don't they look so good?! As far as the orange glaze I had to improvise a bit. I didn't have a brush to brush the glaze on so I used the spray bottle that I use to water my herb garden. I poked some holes in the bread with a toothpick so it would soak up the glaze a bit better which I think worked out.
This makes 2 loaves so I suggest that you keep one to enjoy and then go drop off the other at a neighbors place, friend, ward member, whoever...and do it anonymously, its the best way to serve :)
Oh and come back and tell me if you liked it as much as I did.
