Props to you if you know what song and artist my title is from. Its a good one. Once I get my ipod from work, I'll posts some of my favorite Christmas songs.
As soon as we got home from our Thanksgiving trip, I immediately broke out all the Christmas decorations! I love this time of year, minus the freezing weather up here in Rexburg. I LOVE the decorations, the crafts, the music, the smells, and the coziness about Christmas.
Last year my stepmom Diane, got the married couples in our family a nativity and each year she gets us a new piece to add! This year we got the crest or the "manger" part of it. Doesn't it look great?
I also found a new scripture tradition/advent calender to do the month of December. Each day you read a scripture about the qualities/stories of Christ to spiritually prepare your hearts for the true meaning of Christmas. If you want a list of the scriptures click here.
Since we are spending Christmas here in Idaho with Collin's family. Dad and Diane bought and gave us our gifts to put under our tree while we were together for Thanksgiving to avoid shipping costs and long lines at the postal office. I also got most of Collins gifts early this year since I knew exactly what to get him and I really wanted to wrap some gifts! Presents are always fun but I personally think that Christmas shopping and wrapping the gifts are just as fun as opening gifts!
One of my favorite ornaments, an old traditional Russian coat!
As far as decorating our tree, we usually don't have a theme. We got most of our Christmas ornaments and decorations at the dollar store or on clearance when we first got married and every year, I don't want to go out and spend more money on ornaments when I already have some that I really like BUT I do like the idea of some kind of theme. So I went on Martha Stewart and of course there were a plethora of ideas. While on there I found a tree that was decorated in origami peace cranes! So cute! So even though we already decorated our tree, I think I'm going to add some red peace cranes to it. Hopefully I'll have the patience folding them. Pictures to follow!
Sigh, I love Christmas! I've constantly been looking for new crafts to work on and some games to play with Collin's family on Christmas Eve. Not only that but I also really have grown fond of the white Christmas's up here in Rexburg. I grew up so accustomed to warm California weather and since I had my first Christmas up here, it's so nice waking up to a snow covered town.
So if anyone has some neat crafts or some games that have worked out in the past, let me know!
