Dog Days

I recently found out that "dog days" are the hottest most sultry parts of the summer which consist of the month of July and the first part of August. Finally I knew what Florence and the Machine were referring to. Ha! Well it sure has been some long dog days around here. For the past two weeks we've been sleeping in our living room. Yup. We dragged our mattress out from our bedroom and placed right in the middle of the living room where its a lot cooler and where our small AC unit is (no central here). Lately its not cooling down anymore at night. Its still around 75-80 degrees at 1am. So we turn on the AC for 10 minutes to cool down the living room before we go to bed and have the fan blowing during the night. MUCH better.

We've also been going kayaking a lot the past few weeks to help cool down an enjoy the outdoors. We rented some kayaks from the BYUI campus and kayaked down the Snake River. I forget sometimes how beautiful Idaho is and how much I actually do love living here.

I also participated in my first garage sale EVER. I only remember one garage sale my mom did and she let me sell my little mermaid backpack. Collin went camping with some of his buddies and I stayed behind to try and get rid of some things that have been piling up in our closets and see if I could make some extra money to put towards our trip to Hawaii. Me and a few girls from my ward put the garage sale together and after a couple hours of sitting in the sun and exchanging bargaining stories, I ended up with $195.25! I was ecstatic!
Some big ticket items included a video camera, some goose down bedding which was way too heavy for our liking and a record player (which I got for free when someone in our apartment complex was just giving away!)

I put my earnings in our "Hawaii jar" that will go towards a trip there next year hopefully for our 5 year anniversary. Its a small drop in the bucket but we are slowly getting there!

Even though it's been hot, we are thoroughly enjoying our summer and soaking up as much sun and heat as we can.
