My new rocking chair

Every now and then I wonder over to DI (a local thrift store) and every now and then I find something that I think has some potential. So far I have found and revamped an old fashioned floor mirror and an old kitchen hutch that now sits lovingly in the corner of our dining area. My lastest find was this old rocking chair that I picked up for $12.

At first it sat in our guest looking ugly, then I finally took out a pocket knife and with the help of a girlfriend ripped out both of the seats since the fabric was completely engrained into the wood frame. It took forever.

Once I ripped the seats out, I ripped off the ugly burnt brown-orange fabric along with a thin layer of foam that was attached and left the 2nd layer of foam on for part of the padding I still needed.

I bought some extra batting and fabric, cut it out around the seat and simply just use a staple gun to attach it and cut the excess off. Maybe not the best way but it was easy. Plus, if I ever want to change the fabric to match say a nursery (in the future), it won't be too hard.

And the finished product! Look at that nice bright orange color! It doesn't neccessarily match my livingroom but I love it. I still need to permenantly attach the back seat to the frame so it won't keep falling off and find the perfect place to put it.

Not too bad eh?
