Nesting

This weekend Collin is gone for drill for the National Guard. He spends one weekend every month for drill where they prepare him for his training which is coming up this August. Hes only gone for Saturday and half of Sunday though so its not a big deal. Yesterday we decided to drive out to Idaho Falls and spend the rest of our gift certificates and return a few things that we got from the wedding. It was awesome because we got a ton of stuff which was almost all free! We went back to Bed, Bath and Beyond and got one of the big giant wall clocks, a nice mirror to make our shoebox apartment look bigger and a couple other cool things. Collin even picked out a cool canopy for our bed! We got our brand new breadspread that we ordered from Urbanoutfitters and looks way good in our bedroom. Its nice because our apartment is starting to actaully look like a home now. I moved into our apartment about a month before the wedding and it just wasnt doing justice but now that Collin is here, its so much better. See what a husband can do when you add one to your apartment!? Its great! We got a new computer, got a new computer chair and some other fun stuff and with all the gift cards, and ending up paying a grand total of $1.30 at Target. Nice. We the moved on to Home Depot because we got a $25 gift card which was very exciting for Collin. He really wanted one of those minature fountians so we got one of those, a bamboo plant and some tools. We were exhausted when we came back though but felt very productive. We have a second bedroom which we are using a computer/storage room which is very useful since the rest of our apartment isnt too big.

So my job this weekend is to set up all our new stuff and make it all nice for Collins return tomorrow. I got a good chick flick for later tonight. I have really enjoyed unpacking and putting away our gifts and just decorating the apartment, making it ours. Last week we bumped into a girl I work with who is getting married next month. She and her fiance were also getting the apartment essentials: broom, mop, toilet plunger, garbage can... all the stuff you dont get as gifts at wedding reception. Her fiance made the observation that we were also nesting. Nesting, what a good word for turning an apartment into a home, no matter how small it is! I am already antcipating Collins return. I went out grocery shopping today too so I can make a nice big dinner for the two of us tomorrow. Crockpot is the best. Ah, I love being married.
