Open House in CA

Just this last weekend Collin and I drove down to California to my parents house in Yorba Linda for the open house down there. It was great! The drive wasn't too bad(Collin drove almost the entire time) we got a lot of honks and thumbs up on our way down there due to our lovely white shoe polished "Just Married" sign on the back of our car. We left it there thinking we could use it as a excuse if we got pulled over for speeding! We drove to Provo and stayed Natalie and Davids house for the night before we continued the long drive to California. We all stayed up late catching up and reminiscing about old times and then got up early that morning to finish the drive. We stopped at a small place on the border of nevada and california called Stateline. There is a small Casino/hotel there with this huge roller coaster that goes around the hotel they have there. Ive been before, I would go almost every year when I was younger and since we figured a break would be nice and perhaps needed something that would jolt our senses, we paid the $7.00 each fee and took a ride.
We had the open house the next day on Saturday which was great. The weather of course was extremely wonderful and we had a lot of people come, especially some of my family that could not make it up to Idaho. We even saw the Whittakers! Ive known Brother and Sister Whittaker since 8th grade when I first moved to Corona. Sister Whittaker and I are especially close. She was in my ward at church, piano teacher for years and then ended up being my seminary teacher my senior year. It was great to see them again and introduce them to Collin. We had the Faughts also come down from Corona and my cousin Emily and her husband Johnny also came which I didnt expect. They came down from Arizona with their little girl Savannah Belle which is now nine months and whom I have never met, so it was a treat to finally see her. Most of the people there hadn't met Collin yet so it was real nice to introduce him to more of the family and some of our family friends. We had it outside with a big mexican buffet and some more good music that I took from the wedding reception.
Afterwards we went swimming in the backyard and enjoyed the sun. We went to Bed Bath and Beyond a little later to get this extremely cute teapot Ive had my eye on for quite some time. MY Grandma Vicky got us the teacups and saucers and I had to get that teapot to match! We actually had our own little tea party for family home evening once we got home! We were only there for friday and saturday and took off for Idaho early sunday morning but it was great to come back to CA again. We stopped by In and Out on our way out and headed back up to Idaho.
Its nice to have everything done and over with now. We are all moved into our little apartment and just getting back in the routine of things. Collin is still in school this semester so we are anxiously waiting for the semester to finish so we can take off for our honeymoon! We are thinking San Diego and then Mexico but not for sure yet. So for now we will be here in Rexburg, its small and the weather is horrindous but Ive come to like it. Having a husband here makes it so much better!
