Books

So on my list of "things to do" while Collin is gone, was to find and read a new book. I never really got into Jane Austen, which kinda makes me feel almost "unfeminine" but I do like fairytales, which is more on the kiddish side. I did find two books that I really enjoyed: So right after Collin left, I went to the library in hopes of finding a good read. I went online and googled top books of 2008 and this one came up...Mirror, Mirror. If you liked the play or book, Wicked, you probably would like this one. I didnt know that when I checked-out the book but it is written by the same author, Gregory Maguire. Its retells the story of Snow White with many different twists and alterations of both the characters and enviroment. It includes real historical figures such as the Borgia family which are thought to be "historys first corrupt family". It also has an eighth dwarf, reveals alot about the father of snow white and who really kisses the the girl at the end.
I found this book at Walmart one time while I was shopping around. I went to the library later that day and found it. Now, I'm a cat lover, only reason why this book caught my attention. It's an engaging biography and the story about a kitten who was dropped and left in a book return at a local library in a small town. It really is a charming book about life and death, and the power of relationships. Whether or not you like cats, but an animal lover, its a good read. A quote that I really liked from this book..."Find your place. Be happy with what you have. Treat everyone well. Live a good life. It isn't about material things; it's about love. And you can never anticipate love". Nice and simple.
The next book of my agenda? Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister also written by Gregory Maguire and Marrying Mozart by Stephanie Cowell.
