Summer Skin Part 1

Summer officially ended on September 23rd. Its still warm here with a few cold days here and there but technically its now Fall. As I share our fairytale collection of pictures, keep in mind that our lives are not anywhere near perfect and that there were colds and sick days spent in bed, layoffs, drama at work, a stressed induced meltdown or two (me) and definitely a handful of disagreements on whose turn it was to do the dishes, plus days where we did absolutely nothing but lounge on the couch in front of the TV.  But I'm going to highlight the fun stuff we did this Summer! Here are some of our summer memories this year...

We started our Summer apart. Collin left for three weeks in June for his annual training but I still did a lot. First, I completed my first half marathon right here in Rexburg at the annual Teton Dam Marathon. I won't lie, I was kinda bummed that Collin couldn't be there but it was still a lot of fun and did have some friends and family waiting for me at the finish line:

While Collin was gone I also picked up a hutch from DI for $12 and spruced it up a bit. Its one of my favorite pieces in our little apartment:

Once Collin got home, we got together with all of our friends in the Guard, the guys brought their guns, the wives brought their earmuffs and we went shooting with our friend Rose who was on leave from his tour in Iraq.

We went to Bear World and saw the bears... and some other animals:

We also hiked down the Teton dam and went camping by the water with some friends and spent a whole day with no makeup.

We started a small herb garden which eventually failed (waah)....except our thriving hot pepper plant:
