So you know how I said I wasn't disclose how long Collin would be gone because I didn't want some crazy pyscho to find my blog (because it is a public blog) and somehow gather my information and come break into my place without Collin there to protect me? Well... my attempts were in vain. Luckily, I am still alive and unharmed (actually quite well in fact) here's the story...
I'm driving home from work last night while talking to Collin on speaker phone. I'm in a hurry to get home so I can get just a few minutes to talk to Collin before he went to sleep for the night because I know they have to get up super early in the morning. I get out of my car, grab my bag, unlock our apartment complex side door and start heading down the hall to our apartment as I'm talking to Collin...
Me: Hey hon, how was your day?
Collin: ugh, slow. uneventful
Me: Well at least you got some down time to rest
Collin: Yeah definitely
Me: Where are you guys now, still in the field?
Collin: Yeah, we're still with the tanks out here but we have good reception here. We are all in our sleeping bags.
Me: Cute. When do you guys head back(to the barracks) I miss you! I hate coming home to an empty apartment... (yeah right)
Unlocking the door....
Me: AHHHHHHHHH! (as I drop my purse and try to turn around and head back out the door)
Collin: (inside our apartment) Hey sweetheart!!!! It's me! It's me!
At first all I saw was a dark 6'3 man rounding the corner hallway, and he wasn't in an army uniform which triggered me to take off in the opposite direction. You know how you have an idea of how certain things are doing to go down in your head? Like your wedding day... you imagine it and dream about it so you visualize how its all going to look and work even though they event has yet to unfold. Well that's how it was when I would think about Collin coming home. I knew it would happen on a Sunday, and he would either come in after I got home from church sometime or that he would either be there when I came home church and like usual he would be wearing his uniform. NOT! One thing I did not anticipate that when I first saw Collin after our 2 1/2 weeks apart would be sheer panic, but let me assure you that fraction of a second of panic quickly turned into uncontained JOY! I think he underestimated my startle reaction but I've never been so glad to be so scared! Too bad he didn't have a camera to capture that initial thought process in my head. It probably would've looked very funny.
Collin got home early that evening while I was at work and of course wanted to surprise me (he knows I secretly love it). I usually can detect when a surprise is coming but he fooled me this time. So yes, my love is finally home and a good 3 days earlier than expected! He's in the Honor Guard as well and does the military funerals for vets and he had one this morning so they sent him along with some of our buddies home early. Unfortunately we couldn't sleep in, he was out the door by 6:30am but I was so excited that he was finally home that I couldn't go back to sleep! So I got up and did a couple things around the house that I had yet to finish before he came home. I walked to the Great Harvest bread store just around the corner from our place and got some Lemon Raspberry bread and saw a cute face on my way back...she comes by all the time.
I am just ecstatic to have him finally home! Tonight I have to work :( but tomorrow we are going to take the day for ourselves and do whatever we want. I got two movie tickets off Fandango for only $9 which we will probably go use and Collin told me to go get a new outfit because he's taking me out on the town. Even though he's back early, I'm still going to make that amazing dinner I had planned for Sunday and going to wear the cutest little apron for him.
This morning after the guys got back :)
