On Thursday (Day 9) I invited two girlfriends over to hang out, Shelley and Laura. I know both of them through my husband's National Guard buddies. Shelley and I have been friends for a while now, she is engaged to our good friend Eric who is currently serving a tour in Iraq right now with Collin's unit and I recently met Laura who just got married to Justin who also serves in the National Guard and does a lot of military funerals with Collin. So I figure since all of our hubbies (and hubby to be) are gone I thought it would make sense that we all go out. We went out to this new place called College Ave Deli which was surprisingly good and just had good conversation. We came back to my place and watched the Young Victoria (another lovely and must see movie) and did our toenails. Shelley had to leave but Laura ended up staying the night so we pulled my mattress out into the living room and watched some more chick flicks and talked a lot about the military and married life. Its nice to have a new friend :)
Among that, over the last week I finally used the zucchini's that were sitting in my fridge and made zucchini bread and finished organizing our guest bedroom but now want to give it a makeover. It really has no color or theme or style or anything...just a blank room with some of Collin's military stuff, a computer desk and a bed with some plastic drawers filled with documents. Very boring. So I'll be working on that next week.
While organizing and going through stuff, I found out something about myself...
I am a picture frame hoarder! The sad thing is I have another whole box filled with picture frames... I think it's time to get rid of some. Here's a pic of the zucchini bread that came out, I think, perfectly. I love slipping on a girly apron and just making bread, it makes me feel like a good wife. I know Collin loves it when I wear aprons when I'm baking and since he wasn't here to try the zucchini bread, I think I'll make another batch when he gets home. Ugh, I can't wait!
